  1. Well, tryed again with recordnow and happened the same problem. The film runs well from hard disk, also runs well from DVD writer on the computer, but hangs in the last few minutes when played on my table DVD. Its certainly not related with the software, but to some other kind of hardware problem. I suppose DVD´s burn from inside to the outside of the disk, maybe because the disk is almost completely full table DVD can not read from the outer tracks. I am using a sony +RW that cames with my Sony DRU-500 writer; I will try with other media and also check your suggestion of ventilation.

    Another suggestion: maybe it would be usefull if we could manually change bitrates in order to keep some space free on the DVD-R. Just a thought.

    Thanks also for the support in this forum.

  2. Forget my stupid suggestion! Of course we can change bitrates or reserve some space on the DVD-R; because numbers were in light grey I though they were blocked.

    1. Program was designed for PAl and only recently supports NTSC so yes it supports PAL but it will not do a PAL to NTSC conversion. PAL disk turn into PAL disk.

    2. I hear there is a way to use it to preserve the menus to do set but I'm not sure how and haven't tried myself. For epsode disc I've started ripping each ep then making my own super basic menus using the guide over at Doom9.org.

  9. Plz everything its ok but i rip czech subtitles bud dvd say its english (but its czech) its posible to change this in ifoedit thnx

  10. @funil99

    You have to copy the subtitlecolors from the original ifo to the new ifo with IfoEdit after the authoring. Look at the small translation at the beginning of this thread.

    @loutka

    You have to specify a language for the subtitles and the audio in the authoring-window of IfoEdit. In some cases IfoEdit ignore this settings and set the subtitlelanguage to english. Seems to be a bug.

  11. Im sorry that I´m studpid.. but how do I copy an entire dvd (with extras), with preserved menus? If i choose the "movie-pgc" I only get the movie without menus.

    thank you

  12. Hi

    DVD2DVD-R copies only the selected movie. If you want to keep the menu and extras you have to reserve some space for it (see under Bitrate->reserve MB) and assemble it by your own.

  13. Chat: This may be a stupid question, but is the quality on a DVDR rip an exact copy of the DVD. What I really want to know is it better than SVCD. Becuase i am currently using dvd2svcd and the quality is great, and a movie fits on 2 cheap cdrs. I was just wondering if there were any benefits of getting a DVDR. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

  15. Chatwalker,

    I have a question for you. In doing the movie spiderman with just the english audio and all the subtitles the movie will fit on 1 DVD, my question is why does it encode it when there is no need?

    see sizes below
    Audio=297,742
    Video=4,024,331
    subs=6,000

    What I do is cancel the encode and author the audio subs and video without encoding.

  16. @bengbrewer

    With DVD-R you keep multichannel audio like DTS or AC3. Also the bitrate and resolution are much higher.

    @NYPlayer

    It is not possible to calculate the exact size of the subtitlestreams and muxoverhead (depends on the multiplexer) without scanning the entire file.
    DVD2DVD-R reserves 15MB per Subtitle and some space for the muxoverhead. This guarantees that the copy will fit onto a DVD-R. If the source is near 4.37GB it is possible that it will fit onto DVD-R without encoding as well when DVD2DVD-R says 'new encoding required'.

  17. Chat: Is DVD2DVD-R just as easy to use as DVD2SVCD is? I havent had a chance to try dvd2dvdr yet. I just ordered my Sony DRX500UL today. im so excited.

  18. chat i got another stupid question for you. do you think there will ever be a way to load a dvd-r up with about 6 divx movies and throw it in and watch em? that would be so sweet if you could do that.

  19. "Repaired Bad Frames = 22"
    "Final Wrongness = -1514".

    In the logfile, I will get a bunch of errors that say something like:

    "C:\THE_CROW\Audio_0x80_English_Normal.AC3 11:47:38 AM found bad Audioframe in".

    Whenever I get these errors, the authoring process in Ifoedit will produce the following error during the "Multiplexing elementary stream files":

    "INTERNAL ERROR: additional data required but no free space in input buffer"

    In the log window in Ifoedit, it says that "Stream 0x88 completed, Frames: 122727".
    I also have had this error twice My jumper settings are all fine and the finished project looks and plays OK is it possible there is a bug that req attention?

    There is something wrong with your System or with the original DVD (scuffs) when DVD2DVD-R reports a big amount of 'bad audioframes' (0-3 are OK). This error only occurs if the expected syncword wasn't found.

    Did you force your system to run with extrem memorysettings or did you overclock your system?

    Try to rip with the burner. I know it's teribble slow, but in most cases the burner (Pioneer) is able to read the disc with no errors.

    Try also to rip with DVDDecrypter in ISO-Mode and mount the image with Daemon-Tools. Now use DVD2DVD-R on this image.

  21. CCE 2.5 , You can get a DEMO off CCE2.5 from DOOM9.org, It is a demo and you have to pay to register it, but Im sure you'll all know what to do
    go to DVD and Mini DVD guides, scroll down to Encoding guides, and click on Getting the best out of CCE there you can download the DEMO! Demo does not mean Warez

    No to the above

    Yes I have used this on both rips with the error

    Try also to rip with DVDDecrypter in ISO-Mode and mount the image with Daemon-Tools. Now use DVD2DVD-R on this image.
    These programs I shall try tonight

  24. @loutka

    At this time there are only DVD2DVD-R 1.2.0 and VobEdit 0.60 to extract IfoEdit 0.95 conform subtitles.

    @MrBlond

    I've heard about DVD's with inconsistent audiobitrate (Pearl Harbor RC2). In this case DVD2DVD-R will report many 'bad audioframes' and the stream is unusable. At the moment it is not possible to backup such movies with Version 1.2.0. I will fix it in the future.

  26. Is there a step by step guide out anywhere. I need to know what the setting should be. I tried to use the program to rip LOTR to 1 dvdr and it did everything and said finished in the log file, but the end file was still to large to fit on one dvdr. What am I doing incorrectly? I thought to change the bitrate but it is faded out and unselectable. Can anyone please tell me how to make a dvd-9 fit on one dvdr?

    Thanks

  27. Does this program keep the menu structure and everything intact? Or does it just rip the movie only?

  28. Chatwalker,

    This is a GREAT piece of software !

    Just a couple of questions :
    - How hard would it be to copy the subtitle color information from one file to the other, same for the VTS sectors.
    ---> Would it be possible to write a small tool that does this automatically ?
    - Do you have any plans to do a full rip thing in an upcomming version ? It would be really cool if the menu's and extra's could also be added, and the extra's would also be smaller.

    Maybe look into adding IFOEdit into your software, or run automated scripts for it or something like that.

    I'm sure you are aware that the main reason for using DVD is because of the extra's, so it's a shame that these are lost.

  29. Hey, it worked! I managed to back up my copy of harry potter to 1 dvdr ! The only problem is that the interlacing seems off. TV signals are supposed to be interlaced, but, during any/all movement you can see interlacing which I've never seen on TV before. It's bad enough that it would drive me crazy if I actually tried to watch it this way.

    I don't think I had the "upper field first" checked; do I need to check it?

    Everything else was great... it had both english & spanish audio tracks AND it also had both english & spanish subtitles..! If I could just figure out the interlacing, it'd be perfect!

    Thanks for your response

    Just to point out that the finalised Disk plays just fine with the errors I am getting so I am very happy with the software I hope you can develop it further and I will be glad to give any assistance that I can

    Thanks for making this as it is a great tool
