CCE not closing with v1.3.4:
Well yesterday, it closed and did the pulldown then stop (because I always uncheck "Start authoring software if possible" since I cant use IfoEdit. The other day CCE didnt close and DVD2DVD-R didnt do the pulldown. So looks like an intermittent problem. I have no idea what can be causing this.
Aspect Ratio:
On my first movie, I choose 16:9 PS & LT in DvDMaestro. Aspect ratio can be very confusing but I think I know what to do know. Just match whatever in on the original DvD. So start IfoEdit and go look the parameters of the main movie (double click on the line, took me 10 mins to figure this out) Then just match those settings in the compile DVD.
For example, Back to the Future is 1.85:1 anamorphic and the settings of the ifo file on the original DvD was 16:9 letterbox. So I should had choose 16:9 LT in DvDMaestro. But I just edit the compile DVD with IfoEdit, changed the aspect ratio and re-burn. It worked. My standalone DvD player nows play the movie in 16:9 (1.85:1)
Doh, Update:
If you have 16:9 PS & LT check, the movie will show up in 4:3 on 4:3 TV`s and 16:9 on 16:9 TV's. Selecting`"16:9 LT" FORCE all TV's to show it in 16:9. I check a few original DVD`s from my collection and they all have 16:9 LT check and thats true for real letterbox movies and anamorphic movies. But I guess "16:9 PS<" could be usefull if your stantalone DVD player doesnt have zoom-in and you want to watch movies in 4:3. But I dont recommend using this parameter.

I have had the same problem with verion 1.3.4 stopping before it finished, I noticed it does that if I have anything running in the backgorund or doing anything else on the computer or desk top. If I have nothing else running except DVD2DVDR program then it goes through and does all it automatic steps and ready to burn when done.

You have to select your DVD in the source area. Then select the PGC with the main movie. The go button should be availible than. -
thanks alot i really appreciate it but which pg or pcg is the right one to pic? and when if completes how do you burn it then? does it come with a menu as well like regular dvds?

Can anyone give me insight into why dvd2dvdr might be stopping after the CCE phase and not doing the pulldown. It used to work fine, but it just stopped for no reason at all. Its not a huge deal cause I can do it manually, but that kind of defeats the purpose. can anyone offer a solution....it would be most appreciated....thanx

@ozzie
As -thxkid- said:
"it does that if there is anything running in the background or doing something else on the computer or desktop. If you have NOTHING else running except DVD2DVDR program then it goes through and does all it automatic steps you checked."
I hope it will be less sensitive in the future... -
@gsknight
the pgc that has the time next to it that that matches the movie time.
no all you will get is the movie. -
gsknight - use nero 5.5.917 in dvd video mode to burn make sure to drag and drop all the files in finished TS_video file in your movie over into the nero ts_video file, then burn.
also if pulldown is being used then you are re-encoding the file, when encoding nothing i mean nothing can working in your background not even a downsized web page, its that sensitive -
@SyCo
....yea I read that, but my problem may be more unique because there is nothing running in the background. So what I am wondering is....is there a process running under windows 2000 that maybe has a conflict. I have run this prog with other programs running in the background the whole and it was successful before and that is strange too. It seems to me that the problem might be something like a process that stops working in the middle of the prog running and that hangs it. Has anyone else had any experiences similar to mine or can anyone replicate some of things I am seeing? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know when an update is expected or possible? What sites are supporting/providing the prog. thanx

Hello,
I've downloaded and run what I think are the relevant files, and after trying a couple of dvd's am at a loose end.
www.silkstone.v-2-1.net/silkstone/images/dvd2dvdr.jpg
Both of them - 'Willy Wonka' (I know, sorry!) and '51st State' seem to be under the 4.3gb limit therefore no encoding has taken place.
I'm left with some ripped files
www.silkstone.v-2-1.net/silkstone/images/result.jpg
but am unsure where to go from here.
I had previously been using CladDVD, DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc Plus, and then burning with Ulead Movie Factory.
I've read through a guide but it mentions all kinds of settings etc. which don't appear to be an option in the program I'm using.
Also, I have Nero which I've never been able to succsellfully use - I get all kinds of error messages, is there a more suitable dvdr burning program?
I've opened up the movie files created in Nero, and despite dvd2dvdr saying no encoding necessary the m2v file is only 5mb, despite me selecting the VOB file in dvd2dvdr that was nearly two hours long.
www.silkstone.v-2-1.net/silkstone/images/nero.jpg
How will this fit on a dvdr?
Thanks for any assistance,
Will -

@ Silky31
Download IFOEDIT, open, top bar, DVD Author - Author new DVD.
The window that opens is self explanatory.
Set Audio and subs (English, Hindi, Hrvatski etc)
Save in an ALREADY EXISTING directory.
You will be finished in about 15 minutes for each, if WillyWonka and 51st State are PAL.
Next you will have to correct the color of the subtitles. This takes a little longer to say, so do a search. Prefferably, read the DVD2DVDR guide
All the files needed will be produced by IFOedit. Check with Power DVD or WinDVD, If working, throw them at NERO's VIDEO_TS folder.
If they are NTSC, read all this thread.
Have a nice weekend. -

I have a problem and few Suggestions
Problem:
Why I can not choose another Encoder like TmgEnc, the pulldown menu is locked?
Suggestions:
1- Letting the user manually select the path(s) to CCE or/and TmgGen, DVD2AVi and so on (so DVD2DVDR never stop and says CCE not found).
2- Set an option of the DVD type (NTSC or PAL), so other options will be set automatically.
3- Saving templates like TemgEnc, so we will not have to select the options again.
4- Giving the ability to convert an existing IFO/VOB files on the Hard disk, b/c it is so slow doing it from the DVD-ROM and most of us doing it that way.
Thanks to the Author of DVD2DVR, it is a great achievement! -
here's an update to my last post. I've tried encoding again with a few smaller files, and I still get the same problem. The error message box that pops up is "server execution failed". This is my first try with DVD2DVDR, so if somebody out there can tell me what usually comes after the "Updating registry for dvd2avi" step, then maybe I can figure out where the process is going wrong. Maybe CCE can't be found? It's hard to troubleshoot being unfamiliar with the process. Please help.
P.S. I'm using version 1.3.4 of DVD2DVDR -
Here is a suggestion for all newbies: Read this entire topic from page 1 thru page 15, most of the question and problems that you are having have been answered before. I am not trying to be rude, but a little research on your part would go a long ways.

okay, I uninstalled and reinstalled but still getting the same problem. I'm 99% sure that it isn't the installation. It seems like it might be a registry problem because the error comes during the "updating registry for DVD2AVI" step. What i can't figure out is why dvd2avi needs to make a registry entry or what would be the problem with it.
I know that VFAPI is used with DVD2AVI and the doom9.org guide for CCE says that vifpset.bat needs to be executed before the program is used for the first time. however this file is not anywhere in the dvd2dvdr file. Could this be the problem?
Any help with this problem will be very much appreciated, even if it is just a guess. Please help. -
@rabiee140
it might be an idea to try and get version before 1.3.3 and give that a try..i tried 1.3.4 but with the few probs it has decided to drop back.. -
OK stupid question time
if I need to transfer a DVD-9 to DVDR with menus can DVD2DVDR do that?
I ask that because I put "PROOF OF Life" and it said no encoding needed while the DVD is 6GB
I then also put in "beauty and the beast" same thing. Is this something wrong in the installation ? Or will DVD2DVDR only encode if the Main movie is more that 4.3 GB
Best Regards -
Dvd2dvd-r will only encode if over 4.3gig and rebuild the film structure so it will auto run but not take the menu structure.
-
Thanks, Mosh. Do you know where I can find that or any other version? all of the links to download the program lead to either a "web page unavailable" page or "you don't have permission to download".

rabiee140
I have notice the same thing, just try to search it with google you should find a site that have it available for downloads.
Cool Feature:
If you want to reserved space for the original menus or extras, you can use the "Reserved MB" on the right side of the bitrate line in the encode tab. There is a DVD-9 to DVD-5 guideon doom9 that explains how to re-insert your VOBS into the original DVD. Using that method will allow you to have the original menus on the final DVD. -
okay, I followed the link, and the download began, but it goes very slow (about 250 bytes/second) and at around 17%, it cuts off and says the download is complete (but of course it is not). Has anyone else had this problem downloading the program? I didn't have any trouble downloading 1.3.4. I've searched google, but none of the links work. I will keep trying to download from the site listed above, but if anyone knows a better link, please post it.
Thanks,
Anthony -
