Actually the program is very useful, it automates almost the entire process, except the authoring part, but DVD Maestro is very easy to use and does a great job (I don't worry about the subtitles so I can't speak on that matter).

  4. Following the advice that was just given to use dvdmaestro.....I am in the midst of trying it. I loaded the chapter list from the original dvd but when I go to load it into dvdmaestro it says "I-frame insertion entry frame is not consistent with tape frame rate! Any ideas?

  6. I have two questions total and then I think I have this down....YEAH! The first, I just asked and that is how do I get the chapters in (see my question before this one) and the second is how do I get it to show up as widescreen. The film is originally wide screen, but it has become elongated in this last try. Any help would be greatly appeciated. Thanx in advance

I You look right the above the the Real View window you will see 4:3 you can right click on it and set it to 16:9 ls/ps

On the Chapters right before I open the original ifo to extract my chapters using chapterxtractor i make a minor change.

I select presets for DVDmaestro then I make a change to the format.
I change the colon after %ss and before %ff to a semicolon. Then I open that original ifo and save my chapters.

  8. @Chatwalker
Congrats for an ass kicking cool prog.

Been following the 13 pages of posts since first downloading the version. Thought it might be usefull to explain how things have been working for me.

All NTSC backups for me. Never had any luck authoring with ifoedit until I recently updated the firmware on my HP DVD 200e. (No idea where to get DVDMaestro so ifoedit is really my only option.) Now rather then random freezes, I can consistently view movies on my standalone up to about 1:40 in length. After that my standalone just stops playing the movie. This is an issue with any dvd I backup (same w/ DVDDecrypter) so can't really explain what's going on.

I have a feeling I must be doing something wrong still with my DVD backups in general. The only perfect copies I have made are with DVDXCopy, yet don't want to waste 2 disks on each movie.

    Info:
    XP SP1
    HP DVD 200e
    Memorex DVD+RW
    Sony DVP-NS315
    Always use force film,
now set DropFlag (although don't know what it does)
no expert-mode (don't know what that does either)

I do believe you rule. That looks like its gonna work for me. chapters loaded up fine after that and I found the place to change it to letterbox. thanx for all your help. This program rules. Very important to have the right software for all those still struggling. Follow the directions for turning off authoring in DVD2DVDR and what you need to select on page 12 of this post I believe. Then follow on this page some important details for Spruce Maestro and walla. Thanx again.

Thanks for this bit of info, I have ran into some problems with the chapters, but could never figure out what the heck to do and eventually just said the heck with it. What exactly does changing the colon to a semicolon do (besides the obvious of course).

  12. Quick Question :- Why don't you just use DVD2DVDR's Scenarist mode to author the DVD as DVD2DVDR creates the scenarist script for you, all you need to do is load it into Scenarist. It automatically loads the re-encoded video, sets chapter points, imports all the audio tracks etc. Then you just click burn. Easy way to get around the NTSC Ifoedit problem.

The only thing it doesn't do is subtitles but they can be ripped easily enough with subrip if you require them
    Quote Quote
  13. Tried scenarist it will not import the Video keep getting an error. This is of course on NTSC films.

  14. Upper Field First -

For NTSC, I believe the proper protocal for this is to leave it unchecked
_unless_ BitRateViewer says it is NOT Upper Field First
(due to a 'bug' in CCE).

If you are wrong, however, you can run Pulldown to switch them and
don't have to start the process over again. (I think the format is
    pulldown old.file new.file -nopulldown -tff [odd,even] - were odd/even
    are the parameters).

Can one of the sages on this list confirm the last two, I have been inside
and out this site and Doom9's for definitive answers to basic questions....

    Thanks
    Will

and author it with the rest of the movie ?

will there be a problem with sound or a sync problem ?

How to rip it without the problems ?

Did you run pulldown on the .M2V before importing the video as it needs to be at the correct framerate

  18. I'm having problem again. Started having trouble when had to uninstall the program and re-installed it.
    1) I could not get the Pulldown to work.
    2) Then, I it did the long process of re-encoding, but when CCE was finished it just stopped.(Had to manually close out program.)

I have successfully made 2 backups before. I'm thinking that I am not install the program right. I think that I got lucky on the first install. Does anyone have a correct way to install the program.

Is there installer icon or do I have to click ever (exe icon) or just the setup icon or the CD icon?
Does anyone have a quick setup guide.

  19. @Merciless:

You are not doing something wrong...

This version, 1.3.4, has a bug. Sometimes it finish all process, and sometimes it stops after encoding. I think that Chatwalker knows the problem and is working on it.

Give some mantainance to your computer (Desfragment HD, clean registry, etc). That works for me...

  21. I go threw the whole process of waiting 4.5 hours and Pulldown fails. Can someone tell me why this is not working correctly. Pulldowne.exe icon is in the DVD2DVDR folder.
    This is driving me crazy.
Is there away for me to continue the Pulldown process? I have GUI Pulldown, but I do not know how to use it.
    Really could use some help.

This is one way to do it but when you chose the file format in Chapter Xtractor for DVDMaestro, it is the correct format.

You need to configure the "Chapter Marker Properties" in Maestro. Do the following:

    1. There is a step that needs to be done before you import the chapters list. Right click on the Chapter timeline and select PROPERTIES instead of "Import Chapter List".

    2. In the "AUTO-NAME" section select INDEXED BASED. Then click OK.

    3. Now import your chapter list.

For complete instructions on configuring and using Maestro may I suggest reading the following GUIDES:

    Spruce DVDMaestro
    http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/maestro.htm

    FukHead's Maestro Unleashed
    http://www.fukrulez.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=11

    DVD2DVDR
    http://digital-forums.com/dvd2dvdr/intro.htm

This last guide is not to be confused with the GREAT software DVD2DVD-R by Chatwalker that is topic is all about!

    @ Neoh & Klampe:

    1. Rip using DVD2SVCD's internal routines or Vstrip (in the program).
DO NOT use Decrypter nor SmartRipperwhen using this method.
    2. Open ripped ifo with ifoedit and write down numbers of Audio tracks and subs.
    3. Make new IFO. Correct subtitle colours.
    4. Make image using IFOEDIT.
    5. Mount image using Daemon tools
    6. Start DVD2DVDR, check the numbers of Audio and subs you want, and you should have no problems.

    OR

1.Rip-decode using DVD2SVCD's internal routinesand DVD settings.
    2.Use ChapterXtractor for chapters
    3.Subrip for subs
    4.Use Maestro to encode

I love DVD2DVDR and I really hope Chatwalker can iron out all the bugs, but DVD2SVCD is my first love and has got me out of really difficult and head-banging-on-the-wall situations.
I always try new ways to do DVDRs, but if everything fails, I know DVD2SVCD will get me out.
PLUS it's the only one that gets me those ^%$#* STNG DVDs without much hassle.
