I noticed a post here about the ifoedit NTSC bug where it cuts off time and puts chapters in wrong place.
http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=124896
Is there anyway to add the parts needed from original ifo to the one ifoedit creates, because it should control how the frames of the movie should be played back.Back to the original post. I encoded a couple of movies with Rempeg and authored them with Ifoedit 95 and did encounter the time/remaining/chapter problem. I also encoded the four Alien movies using CCE and Ifoedit 95 to author them and they do not have the problem. All time and chapters points are reported correctly by my DVD player. Ifoedit captures cell times not chapters points?

Anybody found a solution for subtitles getting out of sync ?
1.- Subtitles extracted with DVD2DVDR
2.- Video created with TMPGEnc using DVD2AVI.
3.- Audio extracted with VobEdit.
4.- VOBS Created with IfoEdit 0.95 DVD Author.
The subtitles started perfectly sync with voices.
but after some time, the subtitles started to appear 1 second before voices, then 2 seconds before, etc. -
@all the people who expierience CCE start problem
Is the problem where CCE doesn't start after where it does the DvD2Avi part or after it creates the .vaf file and then starts to re-encode the .m2v file into the new .m2v.
If it is for this process to re-encode how long do you leave it running for because i came across this and CCE sat there in between 5/10 minutes and then the status bar screen came up waited another 2 minutes and then started to encode the file.
@all
I have used Spruceup to author NTSC which have had pulldown run on them to correct the time loss. the only disadvantages to this is you have to manually set the chapters and DTS isn't supported.
I don't rip subtitles so i don't know if you can do these in Spruce has well.
Also i think it is only one .AC3 file per .m2v file but if someone knows if this is wrong then post to let us know.
The movie i done was We Were Soldiers and i added my own menu to it but on TV the menu buttons were out of alignment and chapter selection were out of alignment.
I don't claim this to be the best way but if you can live with the limitations and don't have the other authoring programs this can fill the void till either ifoedit bug is fixed or something better comes along. -

Quick question... in the absense of a working IFOedit I'm using maestro in the short term..
So I use DVD2DVDr to rip and de-mux the video.
Now if the video need not be re-encoded, so I'm basicaly just dumping the demux video/audio into maestro, do I need to run pulldown on it? or will it already be in there from the source or will maestro add it in?
thanks, -
@BK
CCE comes up straight away for me, it is only the encoding part that takes its time coming up.
If it helps in anyway i am using
Win Xp Pro, P4 1.9ghz, 512mb, Both H/D's are Ntfs.
@dc91gt
Being as Maestro and Spruceup are done by same company i would say yes you will need to run pulldown.
I should think even though movie hasn't been re-encoded it still has in a way by demuxing into a movie and sound file. and would say you would need to Run Pulldown.
I tried in Spruceup and received a frames error and set prefs to NTSC. But .M2V i ran thru Pulldown went in fine.
Easiest way to try is to see if you can compile the disc with .M2V which hasn't had Pulldown run on it and see if it lets you carry on because Spruceup won't let you get to this stage. -

btw... to anyone following the FF/Chap advance problem I was having with dvd2dvd-r and then IFOedit authoring ... well using maestro and chapter extractor -- problem has gone away.. so like I suspected it.. it was ifoedits problem.
This is good news for me at least haha.
thanks mosh.

I want to make a backup of the movie 54. The main movie(4137mb) actually fit on a singel layer and no encoding required.
The DVD including extras is 4535 mb. I therefore want to reserv some space for extras, the problem is that i can't change
any options in the MPEG Encoder section. Can some one help me with this problem? -
@Espen
Even though the encoder options are greyed out you can still change the settings. -
Can anyone answer me on this???
I may have a stupid question: Is topfield in bitrateviewer the same thing as upper field first in dvd2dvd-r? I am asking because if bitrateviewer says my dvd is interlaced and it says topfield=true I would think I need to check the upper field first optin in dvd2dvd-r (even though they say not to check it with interlaced video in the help file that comes with dvd2dvd-r)
thanks, any clarification on this will be greatly appreciated.

This is a list of some of the software that is used in this tutorial:
ChapterXtractor v0.961
Spruce DVDMaestro v2.9.2915a
Follow the example on using ChapterXtractor and DVD Maestro to retain your chapters.
Here are a couple more examples of using DVD Maestro

Hi all
I have big problems burning dvd movies
i have authored the dvd with ifoedit 0.95 and burned it
with prassi primodvd , it works fine in my pioneer 454,
but when i try in pioneer 717 , it won't work
i tried other dvd-r in the 717 they work fine , but that is
movies i haven't ripped
i have also tried other burning programs , Instant dvd and gear pro
in gear pro i got an error when draging files into the VIDEO_TS folder
it came out with at Start adresse error ???
i have also double checked that i have used "Get vts sectors" in ifoedit
I looked around in the forum , and i can see some others using nero , but it seems that it doesn't work on all machines either
something i dont have tested is , to make a image in imagetools99
the way i have done it : i have created a folder called AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS , and dropped the files in the VIDEO_TS folder , is there
do imagetools 99 do anything different ???
Please help me , its a very big problem for me
Regards

@Klampe
I use Nero for all my dvd burning and have had no problems playing them on the few standalones that i have access too.
I had no success with Prassi for movies but then at time i used cheap dvd-r's that sometimes had probs reading in my DvD-rom (When i backed up pc files) and i had to use burner to read.
I have authored with both ifoedit and Spruceup and these still work fine.
I think it is hit and miss has to what standalones they work on because i done Spiderman and it played on 4 out of 5 standalones (bearing in mind these are low end dvd players). If they didn't work on any standalones then i would be looking at possibly doing something wrong or changing software but what can you do because the end product proves to be working 90%.
So it must be either the media that that particular standalone don't like or the standalone itself reading dvd-r's created by your burner.
It would also help to tell us what burner you are using incase someone else has expierienced same problems and have now been able to fix.
Have you burned and tried testing another brand of DvD-r.
Give Nero a try and see if this improves things all round or if DvD-r's created using nero work on this player.
But other than this by them working in one player says you are doing things right have you tried these discs on other standalones you have access too, to see what happens. -
I have been able to rename the vobs to the original numbers and copy them over to the original folder.
That way you get a full copy of the dvd, including all the menu's and extra's.
The only thing I haven't gotten to work is the chapters, when you do a scene selection, these seem to take you to the wrong place, also the number of chapters is not correct. It seems like the cells are not correct.
I use ifoedit to do the authoring and run the get vts sectors and I run the get vts sectors again in the original folder as well once the files are copied over.
Anyone know what might be the problem ? -
I'm a newbie to burning DVDs and have been trying to use DVD2DVDR. I've followed the instructions and the movies look great however I have a constant problem with the sound track lagging behind the video. The track almost seems to get further behind as the movie goes on.
I know I must be doing something wrong, but I can't seem to put my finger on exactly what is the problem. I will notice about a minute after I know where a certain dialog should be that it will play but by then the movie is, as I said, a minute further along.
Can someone give me some help? I'm using version 1.3.1 of the program. Thanks -
@redwingnut
Have you tested the movie by selecting dvdplay in ifoedit after you have authored the .M2V and AC3 files to see if it happens here.
are you getting any errors in the log of dvd2dvdr.
after dvd2dvdr rips the vobs it checks the audio file for delays and possible probs..is this reporting any error or showing that sound file has bad sections.
is it one, all or certain movies that do this.
if you feel you are doing something wrong write down the steps you are doing so if a step is being missed that can be sorted.
it would also help if you tell us what software you are using to author and burn the dvd with.
also what you are using to play these discs on. -
Thanks for the quick reply mosh.
No, I don't believe I have actually used the DVDPlay to test the files. I'm using CCE 2.5 to do the encoding, and I've burned the image with Imgtools 0.99.3 .
I've tried other methods and don't get the delay but DVD2DVDR is so much less hands on and the steps seem so easy that I'd like to use this program. -
sorry, mosh. forgot to respond about what dvd players I'm using. I have a APEX AD1200 and a Samsung DVD-V2000. Both seem to play both the DVD-R and DVD-RWs that I'm burning.
The interesting thing is though when I try to use PowerDVD it will say that the disc is in an unsupported format. If I then go in and double click the main movie file it'll start up and play fine.
Thanks again for the help
