cool new package DVD2DVDR ... !

I copied nonencrypted dvd to HDD, not as ISO but as files. All is ok and playing on with players. But now i want to downzise it, but cant make "fake" dvd drive recognized by DVD2DVDR, as subst makes HDD. Dont have the DVD disk anymore to make iso copy or direct disk rip. Is there any solution to attach one directory as DVD

Create a .iso with the files and then mount the .iso with daemon tools.

I'm using a XP 1700(1.4), 512DDR, 40gig. The thing that gets me is that two nights ago I did Gladiator and it took about 4hrs to do everything and they are about the same size.

Does CBR take away any quality?

There is a product called UltraISO 5.5 that can make an ISO image of just about anything. It will make an ISO file of anything on your hard drive or CD.

This product may directly edit the CD image file and extract the document from it, also it will make an ISO file from CD-ROM or hard disk. At the same time, you also may process the ISO bootable information, thus create your bootable CD.

I downloaded and installed and made an ISO from an old SVCD that I had. Its one I accidently deleted the ISO's to and wanted a new rip of them for FTP use. When I made it Daemon wont mount it so that WinDVD 4 can play it. It seems to mount fine but the dvd player wont play it. Any clue whats up with this?

Ok on to the info.......

I seem to have BU'd some of my NTSC DVDs with success, BUT I have read so many post with peeps having problems with movies running short as compared to the real play time. I BU'd WindTalkers and Shrek NTSC with no problems, I kept the Subs and Original Audio etc... WindTalkers shows incorrect time with DVD player. Movie runs 2 hrs and 14 min if memory serves me correct but DVD shows way less, like 1hr and 40 min or something.

Now I watched it again and timed it with a watch, and it really took 2 hrs and 14 mins even though the time on dvd player was ALOT less. The video clarity was GREAT. I had no play back probelms, no sub problems, no audio problems. I am using version 1.3.4.

So what gives? Maybe this info below is the answer.

I remember when I was looking for a DVD player to buy and a guy at the store was telling my how certian ones supported pulldown and others didn't. Well I didn't have a clue to what he was talking about, lol, NO I DO.

So I pulled out my Sony Manual and here is what it says word for word:

DVD software can be divided into two types: film based software and video based software. Video based software is derived from TV, such as dramas and sit-coms, and displays images at 30 frames/60 fields per second. Film based software is derived from film and displays images at 24 frames per second. Some DVD software contains both Video and Film. In order for these images to appear natural on your screen when output in PROGRESSIVE mode (60 frames per second), the progressive video signal needs to be converted to match the type of DVD software that you are watching.

AUTO - This will automatically detect if you are playing Film based or Video based software and convert the signal to the appropriate conversion mode. Normally select this position.


VIDEO - This will set the conversion mode for Video based software, regardless of the type of software that you are playing.

I have a reg Mitsu big screen not a progressive TV , but I imagine that maybe the DVD adjust for S-Video out to ?????

Does this make sense and does it help?

Maybe this is why I dont have any blurring or interlacing as others are having and maybe this is why the movie is playing at normal speed and not faster?

Ya know I have another DVD player, I should see what they do on that one......

God I hope Derrow continues with IFOEdit.......

ALL DVD players support pulldown !!! Is part of the DVD specifications. About 95% of NTSC movies are encoded at 23.976 fps with pulldown flags inserted, so player must convert them to 29.97 fps...

So I wonder why my BU plays at normal speed but the time shows it as playing short? Any ideas? Again movie was 2 hrs and 14 min according to the back of the DVD Case. I timed it with my watch and indeed it played for 2hrs and 14 min. BUT, the time that the DVD player displayed show it like 40 mins short....

Now I played this same movie in my buddys DVD player and it would play for like 4 seconds and then stop and kinda get blurry, then start again and play for another 4 seconds or so then stop and get blurry. This process kept repeating itself over and over. Din't some one else in this thread have the same problem when they didnt do a pulldown?

I guess what I am asking is it possible for a DVD player to check the video stream and if it sees that it is a 24 frame video to make adjustments it self, even if the pulldown marks are not there?

The people in this that are having problems, did you guys actually time the movie to see if it was playing faster or were you just going by the time on the DVD player?

Anyone have any Ideas?

I have two DVD Players: Cyberhome 212 and Philips 743.
Two of the NTSC movies I have made with Pulldown and forcefilm, show ok on the Cyberhome, although time is shown wrong, but they sputter and stop at the Philips.
The thing is that I made The Clone Wars NTSC with "some" method that I cannot remember (banging head on the wall) and time shows ok and plays without any problems on both.
I think it was:
1. Rip files with DVD2SVCDand encoded with it.
2. Made DVD from the files produced. (stuttering)
3. Made image from these.
4. Mounted with Daemon.
5. Used DVD2DVDR to rip and ifoedited the files it produced.
6. DVD with ABSOLUTELY no problems

BUT I am not sure that's exactly what I did as I was really experimenting on 2 PCs at the time.

Ok with the 2 DVDs I have back'd up so far (Shrek and WindTalkers), WindTalkers plays great, does not play fast but shows incorrect time on the DVD player. Shrek plays great and shows the correct time. If memory serves me correct here were the settings:

Settings for Shrek:

Left 1st Frame unchecked
Left Force Frame unchecked
Left Pull Down unchecked

Settings for WindTalkers:

Left 1st Frame CHECKED
Left Force Frame CHECKED
Left Pull Down CHECKED

I will try to do both movies again, just to verify these settings.

I already managed to get it almost right, the only thing that doesn't work is the scene selection ...

Hi all, i'm totally new this dvd to dvd-R world (I just got my DRU-500a this morning finally) and this prog looks just perfect. But I have a total newbie question:
I selected the VTS with the movie in it and started the rip/encoding. But What Do I have to do once it is done? Just burn it to a DVD or do I have to use ifoedit to change something or another prog? heelp

PS: I use version 1.3.4 of DVD2DVD-R with default settings on.

I would suggest that you read this entire post first, this should answer most if not all of your question. If you still have question go ahead and post them but include more info such as what standard you are using, NTSC or PAL. There have been many post that explain how to do the process step by step (look at the third post on page by Mosh for example.)

the other question relates to the same fault as pearl harbour. corrupt audio stream. tried unckecking the last cell as in pearl harbour but it didnot work. do you know what cell to uncheck in the advanced properties.

Dont know what the error means but i needed service pack 3 for windows 2000 befor the program would install. then it had to be installed initially 2.
