  1. Just rebuilt the system with 2K instead of XP and recorded a program in RAW uncompressed AVI. Plays fine in any player, but when pulled into VDub or TMPgenc, the color is a moire, kinda like a rainbow effect?

I assume I'm missing a codec, but can't figure it out. Transfer the avi to an XP machine and it plays and converts fine.

    Any ideas?

Also OT: choppy playback/recording with a RAID system. any ideas?

Analog captures can suffer from a rainbow/interference pattern. It's quite common. generally this is because of capturing from a composite source.

If you are an avisynth scripter their is a advances comb filter avalible called GuavaComb and it does an ok job of clearing up these "comb" artifacts. It works on rainbows and pulstaing/moving edges fairly well.

It's called a comb filter since that is the name for the device that seperates the color from the b&w information in the signal.
