  1. Hi,

I'm new to this so please bear with me. I've successfully managed to rip several DVDs and rempeg them, burning them with Nero. The only problem I have is with the Aspect ratio. Non Ripped DVDs play in the Letterbox format, whereas the Ripped ones play fullscreen. Am I missing the sides of the picture? or does it stretch the picture upwards? Have I not set all the flags in IFOEDIT correctly? I'm following one of the easiest guides and trying to just burn without any menus etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Do you use tmpgenc at any stage?

If you do, there's a setting in a drop-down menu inadvanced settings (after you choose 16x9, NTSC), which says something like 'Center Screen, Keep Aspect Ratio'.

That way, you get letterbox output.

  3. I'm actually using Rempeg. If I play it on my PC then it appears to come out correctly, but not on my Panasonic DVD player (can't remember the model but it ends in 10X). Does it not recode in the same aspect ratio?

It TMPGEnc any better than Rempeg? What other benefits would it give me?

    Regards

  4. Before going mad with the encoder, try to change the screen aspect ratio on your player .
On mine choosing among 4:3 letterbox, 4:3 pan&scan or 16:9 usually can adjust to the right view.

    Give it a try

  5. My player has only 2 settings: 4:3 and 16:9. It's set to 16:9 and the original disk works fine, but the ripped disk does not. I'm sure it's an aspect ratio setting somewhere in the Disc, but have no idea where to find it.

    Many thanks for the reply

I'm not familiar with rempeg, but I have to assume it has similar options for ratio settings somewhere in there.
The fact that your player is set to 19x9 but the DVD still playes 4x3, would indicate that this was done at the encoding level. But I could be wrong
