  1. Hi all -

Is there any way to unformat a quick-formatted DVD-RW disk
or extract files from such a disk ?

Here is a little background info:

I store a lot of my data onto DVD-RWs and CD-RWs.
Yesterday, I started up Nero and tried to quick format a CDRW
    [in a Liteon 241040].

I proceeded to put in the CDRW and attempted to quick format it.
A minute later, I looked at my CDRW and noticed that the data was
still in there. At this point, I realized that oh my gosh
Nero had not touched the CDRW but it had quick-formatted a DVD-RW
disk I left in my Pioneer A03 recorder the day before.

I should have checked which recorder Nero was using but I didn't.

This DVD-RW contains a lot of my family and relative's pictures,
clips and is of great sentimental value to our family.
My parents are not aware of this incident yet but I think they'll be
    very sad upon hearing this.

Any way, if you know of a way to extract the data, please let me know.
I understand that there're professional data recovery companies out
there but I heard they're very expensive.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi,about 2 weeks ago,i did the same funny ???? shit with my DVD-Writer.
i tried a lot of programs, but the only one wich could get back the stored
    files was BadCopy Pro 3.71.
but be aware of the following work.BadCopy only gives back multiple files with
sometimes differing endings you can`t trust on.and alot of the returned files are
the same i guess.Maybe it depends on the special DVD-Quickformat Procedure.
so you have to check each of the files.

wish you fun and SUCCESS !!

OnTrack Easy Recovery would probably do it.
