Made complient videocd stream, but audio does not work

Hi,
I bought a Cd-i Player recently, 2nd hand of course,
i was wondering if it could play cd-r videocds..
To simply test this i took the file from a orginal videocd and burned it with Nero 5 according to the videocd standard.
All worked fine.
But now i want to make videocds from .avi (divx)
(Avi file is 23,976 frames res.= 40x416 + mp3 at 192kb)
No problem, the converting went easy enough with tmpg,
i used the templates to make a PAL 352X288 25 Frames .mpg file, audio was set to 224kb 44hz.
Exactly the same as the file i took from an orginal videocd
to test if my Cd-i could read CD-R.
My new file worked fine under windows 98 se, in both mediaplayer 6.4 and PowerDVD 3.0.
I used nero 5 to burn it, Nero checks the file , and then
you can burn it(so it convert from .mpg to .dat all by itself)
But, this is my problem.......the videocd i made gives video
but NO audio...?
Weird since its completly the same as the other .dat file
i used to test my Cd-i.
Do i need to convert the .mpg to .dat using tmpg instead and than burn it with nero 5?
Or do i need to use any other burn tool, since i got i feeling Nero messed things up...
Any clues to as to what went wrong here ?
I need to get this figured out quickly...all help or info

I can't believe this....been helping the world myself for
18 months with DivX questions in some other forum's....
nobody cared to help or suggest anything ???
Unbelieveably bad forum forum or what??
I messed around with TMP encoder, wasted 3 more good cd-r
adjusted the sound to dual channel en skipped the error corecction, and converted the .mpg to .dat with vcdgear and
burned my 5 cd-r with Nero 5...
Now it worked , i got sound..., but all of you semi-pro's
could not tell me this or would even respond to my questions..i took the time to put my problem into writing..
and i get nothing..
I will advise everybody to ban this awful site, you just dont give a damn about others' people problems.......

You don't have to be so dramatic. This is a bulletin board, not IRC. You have to wait more than just a couple of hours before getting an answer.

Firstly, did you set Nero to include the CD-i application when burning your VCD? If you don't, the VCD won't work on a CD-i player.
