    Does it matter what bitrate you encode to? Is it like svcd, xvcd, etc. where it depends on your player? What bitrate do you all usually encode to?

  2. Encode at the highest bitrate that will allow the movie to fit on the disc. Use a bitrate calculator to find out what this bitrate is.

    Ive heard that going above 7k can cause video quality to actually decrease. Is this true. I know that you must keep the bitrate under 9.8k for dvd compliant.

    I guess you meant 7 Mbit/s and 9.8 Mbit/s?
    Anyway, the higher bitrate the better quality.
