  1. DVD2AVI says Res Evil is 29 fps,but it dont say NTSC it says Film 98%....

What should i do to get the best result ???

I read that over 95% film u should force film, but my dvd player dont play films encoded to 23 fps.

Im asking this as im in the uk and normaly only encode pal,but i have a couple of R1 films as they aint or wasnt out at the time over here when i bought them.

  2. Are you making VCD or SVCD?

Mpeg2 allows for 23.9 frames stored
    with 3:2 pulldown for a 29.9 playback.

  3. SVCD.

    So what does 23.9fps with a 3.2pulldwon do ??

And what would be the difference if i didnt use force foilm i just left it as 29fps and encoded it like that.Or would it b better quality as 23.9fps w/pulldown.

Not to forget my player does'nt like 23.9fps(that was stardard vcd)

Better quility as the movie will be stored as progresive video
but played back interlaced 29.97 (the DVD player do the telecine)

What about 23.9 to 25 frames, with a 4% speed increase on the audio?

That is how the pro adapt Film to PAL, but I never done it
and do not think tmpgenc suports it.

  5. so if its less than 95% ,leave force film off.
If its 95% or over force film so its 23.9fps,set to progresive w/3.2pulldown.

Oh the source dvd is progresive.

oh also would i still need to set the field order as bitrate viewer says top field first.

Also just out of curiousity, what would happen if i didnt force film,i just left it 29fps,progressive.?

  6. Try DVD2SVCD, a little tricky to set all the controls for the newbie (they have a forum), but it does a fine NTSC to PAL conversion...

  7. First off not to sound rude but im not a newbie, and i aint using DVD2SVCD.

NTSC will do fine,im just was'nt sure about the film/ntsc thing as i only encode Pal movies, its just i have a cople of R1 discs.

  8. Do this if you want a perfect NTSC - PAL conversion.

Load the file in Virtual Dub and change the Frame Rate to 25, use Divx as Compression codec. Disable the audio.

After this, extract the audio from the movie in full processing mode.

Then, use BeSweet to change the length of the audio to PAL.

Encode with tmpgenc using the new adio and video file, no (sync) problems at all
