Whats the best way to fit this movie on 1 DVDR ?
My method is Smartripper / DVD2AVI / CCE / Spruce-up
I`ve tried various rates of VBR but always come up with a file to large, The audio is a problem also, I compress it with Toolame but when multiplexing the audio & video I get a huge stream of Buffer underflow errors, this happens when multiplexing in BBMpeg & also TMPGENC
The resulting Mpeg is then unusuable. I`ve tried compressing the Audio & video together in TMPGENC but this always gives me lip sync problems right from the start !
Please Help !

Have you tried using DVD2SVCD and following this guide.....
http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/114252.php -
This is how I did it
Ripped the complete movie files (file mode, all files)
Opened 1st ifo file with Ifoedit & copied the cell times.
Ripped the movie out (from the original rip files)with Smartripper (movie mode, select angle 1 only)
Frame served vobs with dvd2avi
Encoded with tmpenc (using dvd2avi d2v file) video only, 3800 kbs 2 pass vbr, dvd template.
Stripped audio tracks (ac3 6 ch + ac3 2 ch directors) from original vobs with Vobedit.
Authored video & audio with Ifoedit 0.95 including the chapter points (celltimes.txt) -
Hi, well I tried DVD2SVCD, I was a bit put off at first with all the settings.
I followed the guide & started encoding, very fast, very impressed !!
But.. The end file was 4.75 GB !!
How come ? -
I guess over size is possible since its just guessing with the VBR stuff.... try telling DVD2SVCD that the disk is about 200mb smaller then it really is and see if it encodes right then.

My way is a little different (I'm not hung up on menu's, chapters, etc...).
I rip the DVD using CLoneAD (CLAD).
I run it through DVD2AVI.
I run it through TMPGenc, using 2-pass Variable Bit Rate (VBR) and I set the output file to be between 4000 and 4040 megabyte (leaving room for audio etc.).
Run it through Spruce and burn. Never failed me yet.
My system:
Abit Ic7G
P4 3.0C @ 3.98 GHz
2x512 MB DDR 500 ram
WinXP Pro
ATI Radeon X800pro
5x120 GB Western Digital ata100
TDK Velocd 48x16x44
Sony 8x DVD burner
