I am trying to make a SVCD from an AVI file using TMPGenc. I have used Tendes's SVCD Encoding guide. Rate Control Mode is CQ, setting is 80. DC Component precision is 10 bits. Motion Search precision is High quality (slow). I left all the other options as they were.
After the conversion to MPEG2 I used VCDEasy to create a bin/cue file. Then I used CDRWIN to create my SVCD disk.
I am not satisfied with the end result. When I play the movie there are "blocks" on my TV at some parts of the movie. And at some part the movie is not smooth, it is bit jumpy (don't mind my English please)
Is there a way to correct these problems?

2 ideas come to mind that might help,
1) burn your movie at a slower speed and/or with a different cd burner program,
2) re-encode the AVI file using different settings.(CQ is not as good as VBR however CQ is quicker)
its also possible its native to your AVI file, are those blocks there at the same point in the original AVI movie? if yes then unless you can find a different copy of that movie those blocks will always be there.
look around on the site, plenty of info everywhere

Burning at a slower speed solved the 'blocks' problem. Thanks!
Now I will try to solve the jerkey part. It is not that jerkey. It is very subtile. Maybie I am to demanding -
Glad I could help
the jerky motion your talking about might be caused by strange frame rates, however this is just a guess, I get a jerky motion usualy when the screen moves from side to side slowly, can see the picture jump a little every second or so. Which I think is caused by frame rate convesion.
I have gotten this even when i have ripped from dvd, not sure how to fix it though.

Sometimes, jerky motion can be caused by selecting the wrong field order.
Hope That Helps!!!:P
