I am going nuts trying to figure something out. I have encoded an AVI to VideoCD NTSCFilm format using the latest TMPEng. I can play the mpeg file on my computer and hear sound, I can use Nero 5.5 to burn a VCD and play that in my cd-Rom and hear sound, but when I put it in my stand alone DVD player. The movie plays, I see an image but hear no sound. Has anyone had this problem? if so what can I do to resolve this
Thanks For the help

I have the same when playing SVCDs on my Marantz DVD player. If you have a Philips it may be the same because my Marantz is basically a Philips in a different box. The workaround is going into setup of the DVD player and change "Digital Audio" from the setting "All" to "PCM only". Then I have both audio and Video. When watching a DVD I return to the "All" setting to enjoy Dolby Digital et al.
Hope this helps.

thanks much that got me a solution. I ended up having to turn digital sound off entirely. PCM only didn't work. That gave me a direction to look and at least I was encoding and burning properly.
