See that small grey thing in your hand, well if its what I think (and I hope to god it is!!) then watch it carefully!!!!!

The cables in my mouse sharded and touched together therefore blowing my 7gig hd my 40gig hd my p111 motherboard my lg dvd drvie and my wintv card.

Add up the cost of the damage if you wish.

I have now lost all my programs CCE etc.

I just got a new setup but its pretty much the same. 40gig hd 450mhz.

So just watch out, I spent there weeks without a computer!!! I was going insane.

Coincidently if anybody has the baker rip pack will you please give me a buzz?

  2. Sounds like a bad motherboard design. I've had a dog chew the mouse & keyboard cables - maybe they didn't short?

I gave the wife a cordless keyboard/mouse as a gift...

Good to see you back Baker.

  3. I'm not gonna say it can't happen, but that is EXTREMELY unusual. I live in the lightning strike capitol of the world and in 80-90% of surge damage cases, the Hard drive is still usable - including cases where the machine has actually caught on fire from a direct hit or near miss. Typically a shorted mouse or keyboard cable gives an error msg, doesn't recognize or doesn't boot. Exactly how did you determine that the mouse was the cause of the problem, as opposed to a random synchronous occurrence or perhaps an additional symptom?

By the way I now have a cordless rf mouse now as well.

Due to a very freak accidnt the following things happend-
the keyboard cable got cut and the mouses cable was lengthinged(?!?)

The keyboard was a clean cut and now wires were touching.

May I also add one of the chip[s on the mother board actuall melted!!!(cool!)

    And one on my HD

Sorry about my bad typing but i am a bit out of practice!!!

I have 81 mails to answer so don't get in a huff if you dont get a reply to anything soon.

I will not be answering mails with attachments as I get loads of klez from all round and cannot find my norton disk!
