    Hey guys..
Ran Willy Wonka through DVD2SVCD last night, and despite the fact that i have 1 CD set for all movie lengths (willy wonka is 100min) it came out as 2 mpg's. Now the secong MPG was only 8MB. So there is no way im going to make this a 2 CD set, with the second CD being only 8MB.
I decided to change the audio bitrate from 112 stereo to 96 mono.
The 112/stereo mp2 file was 81MB.. figured this conversion would save me the 10MB needed to fit this all onto one CD.
HOWEVER.. when i awoke this morning.. i found that when it was done converting... my resulting file was 140MB!!! WTF!
why was the 96/mono file larger then 112/stereo!?

also... there is a documentary on the wonka DVD.. i would like to convert this to a 1 CD XSVCD.. however.. the 1 GB VOB i thought it was in, turned out to be most of it, but the last 5-10 min or so were cut off.. and i was unable to locate this in the other VOBs?

no... i just need to know why a 112/stereo file converted to a 96/mono file would be almost twice as large

Just incase the size of these audio files might help someone figure out whats going on...

    the original mp2 file from dvd2svcd is 81MB = 112kbps/stereo 44.1k
    then i ran it thru besweet.. came to 140MB = 96kbps/mono 44.1k

did i do something wrong here?
    should a 100 Min 96kbps/mono MP2 be 140MB ??

  6. Try 96kbps stereo.

at this point i will try anything..
but are you saying stereo files result in less file size then mono?

  8. I said try, who knows - might be the solution.
I would run your original through DVD2SVCD again to get 96kbps stereo though (not MP2 you got now through BeSweet), since i suspect it is because of BeSweet that your 96kbps mono is so large.

i do really appreiciate the help..
however i thought that DVD2SVCD encodes the audio with besweet?

anyway... since the encode process takes FOREVER on my computer
i will prob just go see if i can pick up a 90 Min CDR.. then burn to that..
if not.. maybe i will try re-sampling at 32K instead of 44.1k.. perhaps that will save me some file size
