DVD Decrypter - No Device Found!

I have been using SmartRipper to rip DVD's and have come across a movie, Harry Potter, that is giving me trouble. I read a post somewhere a while back that said if one does not work try the other, ripping programs that is. So I was going to try DVD Decrypter but I get errors that they are no aspi layers and my device not found. I have tried 3.0.0.1.3 from Sefy guide, no luck, and I have also tried a variety of others from version 3008 to 30017, with no luck. I downloaded 2.4 from Doom9 and that worked. Can anyone tell me why the other versions wont work? I just did a clean install of Win XP Prof and I installed aspi 4.71 then did the newest 4.71.2 (that is what it is showing when I do the ASPI Check) or whatever it is they are calling it (download folder says 472b2)! Anyway, I am not to familiar with settings in the newest 3.1.3.0 nor 2.4 and wanted to follow the settings from Sefy's guide so I was wondering if anyone can shed some light as to why I cant get the other versions to work, such as 30012 or30013?

i'm running xp pro and had to install win aspi 32 to get dvddecrypter to work

im running xp pro and had to install winaspi 32 from adaptec to get dvddecrypter to work, you might want to try that. failing that do a google search for "forceaspi"

Contrary to popular belief, I still recommand ONLY the ASPI v4.60 Build 1021
even to be used on 2000 and XP, it's the only ASPI so far that doesn't cause
problems.

IGNORE the warning on Adaptec's homepage, i've personaly tested this ASPI
on 2000 and XP and it works GREAT.

Notice how many and how fast they keep releasing the v4.70 builds ? they
are simply FULL of bugs and cause major havoc on systems.
