I was impressed with bitvice's quality and gamma correction when trying to produce an svcd of home dv footage. it doesnt have any svcd presets but i copied the setting from ffmpegx to see if it would work. it produced 2 files 1 video (mv2) and 1 audio (aif), what do i do now and will this make a REAL svcd(pal)
regards

You can't use BitVice to make a SVCD. Maybe a XSVCD, but not a real SVCD. The reason is that the SVCD standard demands a ceiling bitrate of 2520 (roughly), but BitVice always goes above this magic number, however low you set the ceiling bitrate.
Sorry..."I have not failed. I have only learned what does not work."
