  1. I am using Windows XP. I have just tryed to back up one of my dvd's using Smart Ripper, and when smartripper was reading through the vob files etc, it came up with the error message: no ASPI access to this device. I then tryed playing the dvd using Power DVD 3.0, and then it came up with the message Error code 8090000B Copy Protection Key Exchange Failure authentication failure. Yet when I play the dvd in my standalone dvd player it plays fine.

If any body out there help me by letting me know how to fix this problem, so I can rip the dvd then please let me know. All help is appreciated.

  2. it sounds as if you dont have the right aspi drivers installed. do a google search for "force aspi", download and install.

  3. forceaspi blows, but yep, it's an ASPI layer problem. Note: there are also adaptec installers that don't check for the presence of one of their cards...

  5. I had a similar problem after installing PowerDVD. Removing it and installing WinDVD somehow restored ASPI access to all my drives! No attempts to manually intall/configure Adaptec's ASPI drivers worked.
