If you ever want to watch your capture on a computer monitor or projector yes deinterlace. Use pulldown if you are capturing from a source which began life as a 24fps film (ie 95% of DVDs) You must capture at a frame size larger than 352 by 240 or the second field will be 'thrown away' I strongly suggest you use MMC 7.6 (not 7.7) to cap mpeg 2, 720 by 480, I-frame only 15 mbps, deinterlace, full motion estimate quality and pulldown only if using S video in from a non-macrovision DVD player. This will give you about 6 gb per hour mpeg file. You can reencode to vcd with tmpegenc or Xmpeg/flask with lsx or cce plugin (xmpeg/flask is much faster)
