    Hi, all...

I'd like to author and burn a DVD-R that intersperses my own video with favorite clips that I've ripped from my DVDs. What recommendations do y'all have for the simplest start-to-finish method for doing this?

I was thinking cladDVD for ripping, DVD2AVI to generate the edited portion of the ripped chunk... then... well, I'm not sure. I use Pinnacle Express to author and burn, but that limits me to using .avi clips as input. DVD2AVI makes .d2v files for me, but I'm not sure how to convert these to plain old .avi. And nothing happens when I try to use the "save as AVI" option from DVD2AVI. Now I know tMPGEnc will convert that .d2v to MPEG, but will it also convert to .avi?

Basically, I don't know what the hell I'm doing. Wouldn't it be great if there was a program that just acted like a DVD player/recorder... just watch the DVD on your screen and hit a record button whenever you want to rip?

    Oh, well.

Thanks in advance for any info.

TMPGEnc does convert to AVI. When you are ready to encode your file, select File-->Output to file...==>AVI file. Select the name of your file, the compression, and hit Save.
    Hello.
