What is the sound difference over all between an MP2 and MP3?
Also is there an easy way to convert MP2 to MP3?

I know its likely an odd question but trust me I have my reasons.

Nevermind, TMPGenc used to do this thing I'm wanting to do. But apparently something has changed (and I'm sure its MS who changed it) and it no longer does. so its no longer an problem.

Sorry for being so criptic, I think some people might know what i'm talking about maybe....

In response to your initial question, the 'quality' differences between ISO MPEG-Layer2 (MP2) and MPEG-Layer3 (MP3) are as follows.

    Assuming identical source material:

    112-128kbit MP3 ~= 224kbit MP2

These are not hard and fast absolutes. Since layer3 uses a better algorithm, quality is better at the same bitrate.

    I have also heard that M$-WMA @ 64-96kbit is roughly eq to 128kbit MP3.
