  1. Hi, I am a new member of this, so I am not sure where to post my questions, so I post here. I have 2 questions: 1. does the quality of a cdr/cdrw have any effect on the quality of a video when burned as vcd?

This question arose when I made 2 vcds (with the same content, using nero burning rom, lastest version). First I used a maxel cdr, then second i used a new-on-market cdr brand name SmartBuy (made in taiwan), but the video color on the latter appeared somewhat pink hue. So I was wondering maybe it was due to the quality of the 2 cdr's, but I am not so sure. Is it true?

My 2nd question is: are all mpeg codecs the same? Like, is the one in nero the same as the one in ulead video studio or in roxio EZCDC5? Is there such thing as this codec is better quality than the other?

I am sorry for this long post, but I really would like to know answers for my questions. I made some vcd with nero, but when watching on tv, the quality of the video wasn't very clear as I expected. (some manufacturing vcd's are very clear when watch on tv, what did they use to make those?)

Kindly thank you for any answer you give!

There should be no effect on video quality, compatability can be affected though.

No, they are not all the same, and yes some are better quality than others, check this link.
