  1. I have some tv episodes that i would like to make VCDs out of so i can watch them on my tv through my dvd player and my NTSC tv. Some of the shows are downloaded and they are PAL. I Tried converting the PAL shows to NTSC but I get kinda-jerky playback and audio problems. I've tried other methods, but it is beginning to get bothersome.

My question is, is there a way I can play, on my computer, a PAL file, while at the same time recording it to a NTSC VCD file, then transfer the good NTSC VCD file to cd.

I'm thinking that this would avoid all that PAL to NTSC troubles and since it would be real-time recording, it can be completed in the time it takes the episode to run.

    Hi
I am not familiar with your problem but I am with the opposite. Many recent european DVD player will play NTSC and PAL VCDs, I suppose an american one can also do the same if it is recent.
Did you try creating a PAL VCD and see what happens in your DVD/TV ?

  3. I have the opposite problem but the method is the same and
it works great. You need to extract audio, change the .avi file
to 25 fps (if it's NTSC to PAL) or to 23.976 fps (if it's PAL to NTSC).
Now you take your extracted audio and either shrink/stretch with something like CoolEdit it since
the new converted .avi file will have a different total recorded time.
Then use TMPGE to make a VCD.
If you need further explanations let me know.

  4. Besweet has presets for converting audio from ntsc to pal and vice versa...saves alot of trying out with Cooledit

Extract the audio through virtualdub...and use aviframerate (or avifrate as it is called on my HD )

and follow the normal procedure to convert to VCD or SVCD or to what ever MPEG format u want with TMPGenc..

Just another way of doing an easy job....

  5. Hmmm...forgot a sentence....sorry

Use aviframerate to set the desired framerate (eg.25 or 29,something)....it saves time and space....virtualdub does the same trick...only u have to save it to another avi...avifrate just makes changes to your divx file....

A sentence???? I could write a whole book....

  6. Thanks for the info. I guess I will give the whole PAL to NTSC conversion a try again using the methods suggested and see if it solves the problem.
