First of all, I would like to thank you for creating this awsome program. Your hardwork is much appreciated. However, I am new to video encoding and have been trying to do DVD -> VCD and haven't had any luck so far. Is there any chance that you can write a guide or make a FAQ on how to do that with OSEx and ffmpegX? I hope this is not too much to ask. Thanks again.

I am writing a User Manual for ffmpegx with the Majors help. It'll be posted here as soon as it's done, and - I am quite certain - often revised

By the way, the following is what I alway get when I tried to do a DVD -> VCD by converting the .vob file that I ripped using OSEx. Can anyone help?

  4. Unfortunately I doesn't have much time right now, and when I got some, I prefer to improve ffmpegX than to write docs, though I understand both are essential.

Wizeman, Tyler and others offered to write docs or guides and I'll gladly help and support such efforts. macmercy wrote a nice DVD->SVCD guide using ffmpegX at http://mac.mercy.bei.t-online.de/index.htm which is in german, it would be good to translate it to english.

  5. I would just like to add that I am also impressed with the ffmpegx program (as much as I can with the little knowledge I have so far of all this) but would very much appreciate a manual too which explains to me what the (many) options mean and what effect they have so I can make a good decision. I am now trying many different settings (haven't managed to create a VCD yet, have managed a 5 min SVCD but with choppy image, good sound) and it is really like I am totally in the dark. Still, I shouldn't complain because till recently I was made to believe I needed a PC to do the mpeg2 encoding so.... am looking forward to a user guide also!

    Ciao!

    E.

  6. I'm new to the world of DVD --> SVCD (meaning I haven't tried it yet). I'm looking forward to using Major's software.

While I can't translate German, Google can do an almost understandable job.

    Check out: http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fmac.mercy.bei.t-online.de%2Findex...language_tools

I hope this helps some people (and maybe gives someone a head start on a translation).

Thanks for the tip - I know no German whatsoever, but thanks to Google this is now not only possible to undeerstand, but also easy to convert into proper English :P

Incorporating it into the ffmpegx Manual
