What is not working? Pulldown or the playback of the resulting mpg? I don't see how pulldown could not work, even if your movie doesnt need the 3:2 pulldown flags I believe it will still add them if you tell it to.
Take your mpg or your video stream. Drag and drop it on the pulldown.exe. Once its done look at c:\ and you will have your new file complete with pulldown flags.
If there are problems during playback you either encoded or authored incorrectly. -
Pulldown requires a video only stream and mpeg-2.
If you have a .mpg file then you need to de-multiples and pass that video only file to pulldown. You can then take the output of pulldown and re-multiplex it with the audio.
No there are no other utilities that can take 23.976 mpeg-2 and make it 29.97 compatible ( as far as I know ). -
ok! now i understand! my movie are mpeg2 with sound(ist surely the problem). ok now i must demultiplex the movie and use pulldown.exe on it and remultiplex. what is the software i need to do that?(demultiplex, remultiplex).
Thanks.

Thats a very good question ive been meaning to ask for ages and keep forgetting
What is the difference between simple multiplex and multiplex
And demultiplex and simple demultiplex ? -
In simple demultiplex you load your mpg and it exports both the video stream and the first audio stream.
In regular demultiplex you load the mpg and then you can select any or all of the streams to demultiplex. So if you want to access the second or third audio streams you have to use this, or if you want to extract only the audio stream and not waste time demultiplexing the video, then this option is useful.
<Edit> Simple vs. regular multiplex is basically the same as above. In simple multiplex you add 1 audio and 1 video stream. In regular multiplex you add 1 video and multiple audio streams. -
I'm having a related (3:2 pulldown) problem.
My AVI is interlaced, 23.976fps (framerate changed from 25fps - followed the guide), 720x560 (cropped using v-dub from 720x576).
I encode with TMPGEnc using the DVD NTSC template. Then enable 3:2 pulldown on playback and change resolution to 720x480.
When I playback on my pc it play's fine. On the TV the result is jerkiness when the subject matter moves. I have tried changing the field order, the video source type (to progressive), different motion search precisions, 2-pass VBR (7000 avg) - all to no-avail.
Where am I going wrong or am I expecting too much?
Donovan
----------- I just know I going to have to encode again !! -------------- -
Some progress made...
I used VD to deinterlace the AVI and then encoded the video source type under the advanced tab as non-interlace (progressive) - huge improvement !!!
