  1. I am finally able to rip and burn my dvd's to svcd with good quality using SVCD2vcd and CCE as encoder..

Hell, I am even starting to understand alot of the settings and don't have to use the default values..

My movies look great but with one quirk.

The backgrounds sometimes look crappy. Well its hard to explain, but lets say a blue sky, the blues arent constant the will change colors a bit and look a little blocky. Or lets say a brown wall, it will not be pure, it will look off.

Its kinda like the look youd get dropping your desktop colors on pc to standard vga mode but you have icons that were meant for high color..

Other than that everthing is super, even high motion is great.

    Any thoughts?

    CCE settings are:

    Passes: 4
    Image Quality: 17
    Video Encoding Mode: Multipass VBR
    Min. bitrate: 300
    Max. bitrate: 2530
    Avg. Bitrate: 2095

BTW thanks to all who have helped me to get to this point, I really appreciate all the great advice..

Well off to backup my StarWars2 dvd I just bought..
Well maybe I'll watch it first..

Try increasing this, it might help the situations you described. Start with it set to say 750 and see what happens.
