    when i play my widescreen vcds in my dvd player, they maximize to fit the entire tv, therby stretching the image vertically...why?

    Make sure in TMPGEnc to set the Video arrange Method to "Full screen (keep aspect ratio" instead of Full-screen. Also, most DVD players don't recognize the 16:9 flag in your (S)VCD's and thus makes the movie Full screen and stretched.

    if it's the ladder of the two, does that mean i can't do anything about it?

    also, where, in TMPGEnc is the Video arrange Method configuration??

    There MAY be something under setup that can turn off the stretching.

    Click the settings button (next to load/save), and there should be a dropdown that have that choice...
