I wish I knew as well. I have had all kinds of problems with that monster. I cannot even delete it properly so I can restore my old Media Player. I gave up and just use PowerDVD. I just hope you have a backup player as well.

P.S. I hope you keep your original Movie Maker as well.

ya theres no way to get rid of it except to restore your computer i think and i dont have a restore point that'll go back that far. Microsoft really screwed up when they made this version.

  6. You can always edit SYSOC.INF to be able to remove your WMP from XP (as the last resort, of course).

  9. Anyone have problems with WMP's Video Settings?...they just simply DO NOT WORK anymore!? Everything else does work, but not the brightness/contrast settings. They default back to the middle. It's frustating to watch a movie/video in the dark. I haven't had this problem the whole time, but it started when loading the latest "Nimo 5.0 Build 8" codec and the "divx 5.02 bundle" I think, and I also loaded some software since it worked correctly before. The two software programs were "VirtualDub" and "TMPGenc" used for AVI video conversion to VCD. I think that's when the problem started. Is there a way to fix the problem? I don't know whether it's from loading the latest codecs or a software conflict, or something else. I've been searching for solutions around forums and the internet, but cannot find a solution. Would loading Windows XP over my comuter solve this maybe? Uninstall and Re-install the codecs? blah blah blah....

The solution to Maverlck32's (1st post) problem? The only thing I can think of is to load the latest codec packs, and see if that helps. I'm trying to find out where I can get WMP 8 again so I can unload it from XP and reload it to start over again. Should I just reload XP over my current Windows to reload it...lol? Because then my other suggestion would be is to uninstall WMP and reinstall it, load the codecs, and see if that helps both of our problems (Video Settings and Internal Errors). Hmmm!?

I downloaded the latest version and now everything works fine. The version I got must have been messed up but now everythings ok. I'm not sure what to do about yours but you could try the same thing...it might work...

  11. Yep, I've got the same problem. I've upgraded to Xp Pro, & I can't view ANY video files exept for divx in playa 2.0 Alpha! I've downloaded all the codecs under the sun, but it still is not working. I've also downloaded WMP 9 in the hope that if 8 had a bug, than 9 fixes it.. but it ain't happening..

If anyone can help me get around this I'll be eternally grateful! Oh yea, I also use Movieplay, I-ON CD player Real one.. but none work..
