  1. I have the Pinnacle Studio 7.15...along with my Audigy Platinum's 1394 adapter), that pretty much makes it Studio DV.

I notice that Studio has the ability to encode directly to MPEG 1, in addition to avi. Has anyone any experience with this encoder, or do you recommend keeping with TMPGEnc?

It would save converting to avi, and then mpg, which, I understand, each conversion causes a slight degredation in quality.

I have Pinnacle 7. It is a great editing program, but Pinnacle's MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 cannot compete with Tmpgenc. Just convert your edited Pinnacle video to AVI, then use TmpGEnc to encode your mpeg file. You'll have much better results.

Were you able to test or see Pinnacle Studio 8 ? Is it still not that good as TMPGEnc ? I was reading on some forum that it should be almost as good in version 8 latest patch.

I have used the latest Pinnacle 7 patch which I believe upgrades the 7 version's Mpeg2 engine to the same as Pinnacle 8's. It is an improvement, but still not a match for TempGEnc or CCE.
