  1. I would like to start making VCDs/SVCDs and have downloaded some software in prep (virtualdub; TMPGen). I have some questions however about the required codecs. I understand this is dependant upon the file to be converted and what you want to convert to, but I hate packs, and dont like the idea of installing files I dont need. I guess my questions focus mainly around Nimo:

First, does nimo include a MPEG2 codec? Do I need this codec for TMPGen to work? Or just to preview the files I made?

Second, does nimo include a windows media audio v2 codec? Does anyone know of a seperate one for this?

Finally, and of most interest to me, I have read on other message boards that nimo may have negative affects on encoding and conversion, such that the quality of the output is reduced. Has anyone experienced this?

I have a feeling the answer to these questions will be, if you dont want nimo, use g-spot to figure out what you need depending on the files you are using and download each one seperately...
Any references to other available pacs will also be appreciated.

I'm all new to this, and any help is appreciated.
    Thanks
