A lot of places are offering DVD recordable media samplers out there now. I recommend looking into them if you need to try out some media to see what is compatible with you home equipment. They usually come with 2 of each DVD-R (or preference +r) and 5 brands or so.
I know of two places. www.supermediastore.com and www.meritline.com
