I spend an hour on vcdhelp.com and still can't figure out why this problem stick on my computer
My computer is ...
MB: A7S333 w/ audio on board (C-media)
Video Card: Msi Ti4200 128Mb w/ Video out
Capture Card: Ati TV Wonder <-- spend me few hours to install this with a drivers...
No sound card.... cus sound card is onboard.
I am using Win98 SE with everything updated!
I was trying to capture video from my Cable TV with ATI Multimedia Center 7.6. There is nothing wrong with the sound when I see TV on my computer. But when I capture it to mpg or anything else..... the capture's video look great but the background noise is just...... so loud!!! i dont' know why.....
1)Is it because I have a cheap onboard Sound Card?? Do I need to buy a good PCI sound card to capture video without background noise?
2)I have spend few hours finding the most lastest audio, video capture card drivers to get rid of those noise but no success.... is it the drivers' problem or what?
3)Is it because I am using ATI Multimedia Center so that the it will record video w/ background noise??
This is my first time to make a thread on vcdhelp.com.... please help all expert here!!!

I had the same problem,TV volume only adjusts what you hear on PC.
Before you capture, click on volume icon in tray and go to Options>Properties>Recording and lower Inline slider to first bar.
Make a test capture and then adjust until desired level.
You have to do this everytime you capture. -
I use my onboard VIA AC97 to capture and an ESSolo to playback because my ESSolo makes a crackling sound when I capture.

ATI does not work well with on board sound cards as was pointed out by ATI tech. staff. After I bought a Sound Blaster Live 5 card the problem was solved with the back ground noise.

Finally!!! I know why this happened!!
I bought a new sound card, audigy MP3+, and this little card fix the background noise problem!!!! I don't need to lower the input volume!!!! The sound is so clear!!!! no noise at all!!!! damn nice!!!!
I disable the onboard sound.... and put it this audigy.... and format my computer again... this is my sixth reformat in the last two days!.....
man.... i need some rest.....
yeah!!!
