I am very new to this and have been finding out lots of information from this site. I have a couple of newbie questions:
1. I am trying to create a VCD from a avi movie on my PC. First of all I tried to do it using Nero, I used the VCD wizard and dragged over the .avi file and started to burn. It started to 'Encode AVI files to MPEG' and has been doing that for the last 9 hours and it is still only on 46%!! Am I doing something wrong here? Will the VCD work when it completes?
2. In frustration at the speed of the above I have looked around for other ways of doing this (encoding avi / divx to mpeg first and then burning). I have looked at the tutorial 'AVI, DV, DivX, ASF, MOV, nAVI, SMR, WMV to VCD MPEG'. I open TMPGEnc and get stuck on the first step (Format). The avi file I have has a FPS/Framerate of 14.985. I can view it on my PC so I must have the relevant codecs. How can I change the fps to the PAL 25fps format which would then enable me to continue with the other stages?
I would appreciate any help in answering my two questions!

I think that with only 14 fps, you'll end up with a jerky video afterwards because you're going to have to duplicate frames to get to a valid framerate.
I've seen people saying that you can accomplish this with good results on this forum.
search for 14.985 fps or something to that effect, and you should find an answerwhat are you askin' me for...
I'm an idiot!
