  1. I recently got a DVD burner (Sony DRU-500A) which came with MyDVD and Arcsoft ShowBiz. When they were installed, tons Ligos .ax filters (including audio, video and splitter ones) were also installed which I assume the program needs for editting the mp2 files. On a side note, uninstalling MyDVD and ShowBiz did not remove the filters which is really annoying since I had to do that by hand (stupid software companies).

I have an ATI All-in-Wonder Radeon card with ATI's MMC software installed so my default mp2 decoder was the Raviscent decoder which comes with ATI's DVD player.

After installing any .mpg or .mp2 file I played back used the Ligos filter. It played back fine, but the volume was much softer than with the Raviscent filters. Is there any reason the Ligos filters overrode the Raviscent ones?

The burner also came with PowerDVD 4.0 XP. Though I haven't installed it yet, I assume it installs another set of mp2 decoders.

Can all these different filters work together or am I asking for trouble having them all installed? Is there a way to choose which one I want without registering and unregistering the different filters?

    Also what's the best decoder?
    Of the ones I've tested:

    Ligos
Pro: Plays backs correctly in Windows Media Player
Con: Too quiet on playback, No real audio options (AC3, ect)

    Raviscent
Pro: Lots of audio options, normal audio volume, Plays fine in ATI's MMC, Looks better.
Con: Doesn't play very well in Windows Media player (video is usually stretched horizontally), audio has a tendency to stutter).

CyberLink (I believe ATI will be using this in their new upcoming MMC releases)
