  1. When i try to view a SUCESSFULLY made MPG ( SVCD Plays perfect on my home DVD player ) with TMPGE using MEDIA PLAYER I get this error:
Unable to download an appropriate decompressor.

  2. Have you got an mpeg-2 codec installed. If not install the powerdvd demo, link in the tools section.

  3. i would suggest to install winDVD or powerDVD which gives you the mpeg-2 codec...

however, even if you do this, trying to play a burned SVCD mpeg from a SVCD disc on media player will NOT work...

media player only play non-burned SVCD mpegs.....once you burn it, the only way to get media player to play burned SVCD mpegs is to strip all the headers, etc.. with vcdgear and put it onto the harddrive...then media player will play it...once you burn the .mpg file and nero adds all the headers, media player will never read it (does NOT apply to VCDs)

  5. hrm..if you've already got winDVD installed and this .mpg is pre-burned, then i have no idea why media player doesn't work...

however, winDVD can definitely view SVCDs, so you can load the .mpg up in winDVD and verify your rip
