OK, tonight I decided to test out my video computer. I captured my copy of Scary Movie via DV to my computer(specs should be listed) and then cut it up for a VCD. Captureing and editing went as well as could be expected...no dropped frames, easy cuts, etc... Then, I started to render the video into another DV AVI file...exact same settings as the captured one. .03 FPS! I could understand this more once I begin converting to MPEG, but not just trimming! ANY ideas?

is that Adobe Premiere that u're using?
it did that to me too - it reencodes the file. And i could never figure out what .03 stands for: 'cause it would show that i have 300 frames in a 5min file or so and then calculate the rendering rate from that figure.
So obviously the adobe definition of a frame is different from what we r used to...
i could never figure out how to do just a direct stream copy of a file with Premiere, like vdub does.
hope this helps.

you could use a lot more memory ... DV still requires compressing as its a compressed format ..
capture via DV a dvd ?
dont re-encode to avi again if you can help it .. -
Yea, I'm using Premiere... I know what the .03 stands for, but a more suitable speed would be in the 20s or 30s(or 60's as I've gotten on my Athlon) And I know it's actually going slow, as it only got a few seconds of video within several minutes of rendering.
I'll see about more memory, but I figured this should be enought since NOTHING else is running. Well, I have to re-encode to AVI. Premiere(or my copy) dosn't have a why to export to MPEG... SO, I have to re-encode, then use another program to convert to MPEG. And I'm capturing VHS to DV.
