I used the split to 2 DVD-R functionality in IFO edit to attempt to backup Blackhawk Down. I have a Pioneer A04 writer and a Philips 711 set top player. I did add an extra vob in the root of the cd's just to make the data < 4 gig. (Philips has a thing with file size). Both disk play fine on the computer with the regular dvd player and the writer all the way through. The player is a different story. The Philips 711 plays 3 chapters then freezes and the display on the player ticks through the other 13 chapters about the speed of the second hand on a clock. The second disk goes to chapter 8 and does the same thing. So I took the disk to my brother-in-laws APEX 800 set top and it did the same thing on the same chapters. I just wanted to split the original to 2 disk instead of the time consuming encoding with no menus or any extra stuff. Just the movie.
I have used Pioneer, Memorex, and EMTEC DVD-r and -RW media. Same situation on all. Has anyone else seen this problem?
BTW: I backed up Joe Somebody and it works fine on my player. Same media. It was a DVD5 though and I only used DVD decrypter. EASY!!! Too bad they are not all DVD5 format.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
