Does anyone know if I can play a mpeg 2 file I created from a DVD? The file is about 800 MB, and Windows media player told me that it doesn't support that file type which was MPEG 2. I have another media player ATI media player, but it didn't load the file either. I tried to go to file types and create new file, make a MPEG 2 title, and try to get Windows media player to play it. It still didn't play it. Any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks

install powerdvd, windvd, cinemaster , ligos player, mainconcept mpeg2 codec

pick one of the above and install - media player will play mpeg2 .. though windvd or powerdvd or cinemaster will play it better ..

thanks for the reply. I am new to this and I do have powerdvd, it just doesn't seem to play the MPEG-2 file. The file was created from the bin/cue files I burned on a CD. Once I burned the SVCD, there was a file labeled MPEG, where the 778 MB file was and that is where I moved it to the desktop and tried several applications, including Windows Media, and none of them played the file. It showed me a compatible list of file types, and mpeg was there, but said for other mpeg , such as mpeg 2, etc, I would need a "codec". I'm not sure what that is. Do you have any idea where I could find a "codec?" Thanks

the mpeg2 codec is installed when you install powerdvd ... try opening the file IN powerdvd or re-install powerdvd .. why move the file to the desktop anyway ... play it from the cd .. if you have a svcd it is 480 x 480 and media player will not stretch it out correctly anyway . powerdvd will as will windvd ..
