If you look in the DVD Rip section of "How to" you will find helpful guides that give advise on what programs you can use. These programs are then downloadable in the Tools section of "other"

I understand the process until "..BBMPG->MPGXMPS->IAURTHOR..". What are those three tools used for? Thanks!

bbmpg is an AVI to MPG converter, you need this to take the tmpeg files you've created to multiplex them from the demux of TMPEG.
Then you use the MPGXMPS progeam to create files that I-author can use to create *.cif files for use by Easycdcreator.
also: I download *.bmp files of the movie cover (usually from amazon) to add to the beginning of my first SVCD disk. I also add at the end of my disks a *.bmp that is basically a black background w/ "Please insert nesk disk" lettering.

If you are a beginner, you should stick to standard VCDs first.
The easiest, most foolproof way is to use FlaskMPEG...
1. Decrypt your DVD with a DVD ripping proggy. Smartripper and DVD Decrypter are both good proggies. If you use Smartripper, be sure to use "File MODE" rather than Movie mode.
2. Load up FlaskMPEG (use either the 0.6 preview 1.1 or the older v0.594) and load the relevant IFO file. In v0.594 you will have to use the "Open DVD" option.
3. You can use bbMPEG (default MPEG encoder in Flask) or use the Panasonic MPEG Encoder plugin. The Panasonic MPEG plugin has better video quality and may be faster too.
4. Once you've encoded your movie into one big MPEG, use TMPGEnc to cut it into CD sized chunks (be sure to use MPEG-1 Video-CD setting rather than Auto).
Then, you can use your favorite VCD burning proggy to create your VCD (e.g., Nero, WinOnCD, Easy CD Creator). Or, you can use VCDImager to author a cd disc image and burn that with CDR-Win or Fireburner.
Regards.

to "RIp Off" as you state is simply an art form..
people can "RIp Off" many things.. tho I believe it is hard with all the anti-theft devices imbeded in DVD cases..
Buy your chosen movie instead, or just rent and do a "rip" of it... I don't suggest anybody "RIp Off" a store... can lead to jail time -
BBMPG->MPGXMPS->IAUTHOR->EASYCDCREATOR
yikes...these 4 steps could be taken care by tempgenc->nero..maybe not as flexible..but still works...espeically for beginners
