TMPGEnc error, help appreciated :)

okay, im trying to convert an *.mov file to a *.mpg using TMPGEnc. Once I get to the part of the project wizard where i browse for the file, everything is fine, i go in, select the movie, and double click it or hit open, then everything freezes up and one of those annoying XP errors popped up saying it has encountered a problem and needs to shut down, blah, blah, blah. anyway, does anybody know whats wrong? iv'e done hundreds of *.avi to *.mpg, and a few *mov to *mpg, but for some reason its not working now, any suggestions? for a start, be sure you have the latest version - 2.58.
