  1. I'm wondering if it is possible to rip the most nice songs from different VCD's to create a new compiled (with only the best songs) VCD.

I tried with nero to make a new VCD but when I tried to add a .DAT file from the original VCD, it says: format not supported for VCD (or something like that).

Anyone an idea if this is possible what I ask ?

You can try to rename your .dat file to .mpg and open it up in TMPGEnc. If that works, jst use MPEG Tools...Merge & Cut to extract the parts you want.

  3. I use Vcdeasy to rip the files from vcd to mpeg. After you rip the files you want, you can reassemble them as you wish.

  4. hey,

use vcdgear to make .dat into a true .mpg.....

since .dat has some headers and such, it is not a true .mpg and renaming may not be fully compliant...so best bet is to use vcdgear

  5. If you want to convert the DAT files back to standard MPEG, you can also use CDXA2MPEG that comes with VCDImager.

If you want to extract everything on a VCD for the further editing but retain the existing menu screens / chapters / etc., you will have to use VCDXRIP and then edit the XML file.

You can use VCDImager Tools GUI as a GUI to all the necessary tools: http://www.vcdimager.org/guides/vcdimager_tools_gui.html

  6. I always use IsoBuster for this (and many other things). It's very useful, mostly free (the part you want is free) and is very easy to use IMHO. Also, it's been around for ages and is sitll being updated

Very useful for recovering data from damaged CDs as well...

Anyway go to http://www.isobuster.com if you interested....[/url]
