  1. Hi all. I'm new at this, and I hope to save a DVD my cousin made to CD-R (I have no DVD-RW) this weekend. So, I've already just now downloaded DVD2SVCD and TMPGEnc 2.58, and am now downloading the new Easy VCD 1.12.

Which one should I install and begin using? Please give me your reasons why. Thanks.

  5. I've been using DVD2SVCD for a few months now to convert my (AVI&DVD)2SVCD. Its only 4 or 5 clicks to setup and your on the way. It adds CHAPTERS also which is VERY useful. I've gotten a few DOWNLOADED movies that had errors when running in DVD2SVCD so i had to use VirtualDub & TMPGE to get the MPG file and NERO to burn it to CDR. The big disadvantage to this is NO CHAPTERS.
BTW..... If anyone reading this can explain to me how to ADD CHAPTERS this would be GREATLY appreciated....!!!

  6. Well HOT DOG!!! I got my project done easily and perfectly with Easy VCD on the very first try. I decided last night to install and try it first because of it's promise that "Now it's so eazy, even my sister can rip DVD's"!

    As per the www.eazyvcd.tk website:

    All you have to do is;
    1. Put the DVD you wish to copy in your DVD-ROM drive.
    2. Select the output folder, name, and what type of CD-R you are useing, then click "RIP IT".
    3. Burn the Bin/Cue image or Mpeg file to CD-R.

It was a breeze, especially for a first-timer like me.

Thanks, dick_p_t, for the info on their upcoming improved version. I will certainly download it and happily make a PayPal contribution then.

  9. BTW....Do I use VCDEASY in place of NERO.?? In steps:
1 - VirtualDub to separate WAV / AVI.
2 - TMPGE to combine the files to MPG
3 - VCDEASY to create CHAPTERS AND BURN to CDR.

    thanks again...

  10. VCDEasy is capable of also burning the cd images it creates using CDRDAO. If you like you can allow VCDEasy to burn the images, or you can use Nero. CDRDAO gave me some burning problems...so i just use nero, its up to you.

  11. Dick,

How do you know that the next eazyvcd release will be out in 2 weeks?

Thats great news, really want to try their dvd to svcd..

They probably will only allow encoding in tmpg though, correct?

  13. After I create a MPG using TMPGE, if i try to play the movie with MEDIA PLAYER 6.4 or 7.1 I get this message: Unable to download an appropriate decompressor. How do i cure this or do i need to use different viewer? I've already installed the "Nimo Codec pack" recommended on this page.

    thanks..!!

I think a lot of you are complicating your lives. After fussing with all these differernt applications, free and commercial, Easy VCD is the most reliable, simple program I have used.

    It produces excellent VCDs.
