When I was trying to convert a divx to and mpg last night, I got a Floating Decimal Point error at about 75% of the way through the encoding. This is the first time I have encountred this error. I tried encoding it a second time and got the same error. Is there a way I can fix this or is the clip unrepairable?

There have been many posts regarding your issue, the problem probbaly is that you have bad frames in your divx file. When Tmpgenc encounters these, it stops, and gives you an illegal floating error. What you have to do, is cut these frames out, or encode around them. The most useful application for doing this is an program that along with virtual dub, finds the errored frames and creates a text file with the numbers so that you can encode around them. Do a search in the forum for "illegal floating point tmpgenc" and you'll find what youre looking for.

Try the info here = http://screw.wz.cz/avidef/AVIDeFreezer%20Tutorial.htm & then get the program here = http://www.mnsi.net/~jschlic1/ I kept getting a decimal error In TMPGEnc I thsi program fixed it right up. You will also need VirtualDub to help out = but itz pretty straight forward!!
