MyDVD is a bad choice for authoring DVD because it re-encodes your audio to PCM. PCM audio uses up 25% of file size for audio,Mpeg audio, the standard for VCD/SVCD only uses about 5% leaveing a lot more room for video encodeing. Witn the VCD/SVD disk capacity of 800MB you could put five VCD/SVCD discks on one DVD-R.

  3. There is no such thing as 'best' anything (well, almost). What is best for you is what works for. This may be different from someone elses best.

Having said that, popular DVD authoring tools you may like to try include Spruce Up (available as demo only, no longer sold at retail), Ulead DVD Workshop, Dazzle DVD complete and I am sure there are others. It all depends on what you want to achieve, how much effort you are willing to put in and how much you want to spend.
