  1. Hi,

Seeing as how Im chinese, I have alot more chinese VCDs. These disks have Mandarin and Cantonese split on left and right channles. Will most DVD players that claim VCD compatabiliy, let you select which side to play? Or will it simply play the sound stereo and so you get 2 people talking in diffrent languages?

Because if most DVD players don't give you this option to pick audio channels, I think you need to encoded it diffrently so it only has one language on both left and right sides.

    Thanks,

with svcd you can have up to 4 stero audio tracks.

you can have on mandrean and one catonisese track.

you switch between them with the audio button.

with vcd, you only get one audio track

  3. Most DVD player lets you choose to play your DVD/VCD with Mono audio, letting you choose which side of audio to hear. My DVD player lets me listen to only audio from the left and only audio from the right (but playing on both sides) so I have no problems with those kind of VCDs. But one more thing you should worry about is that Chinese VCDs are PAL encoded so make sure you get a PAL compatable player.

  4. I thought most Players could handle both PAL, and NTSC right off the bat? Just DVD Reigon
    Coding was the hard part.
