It's turning out to be hard to find a DVD-ROM drive that will read DVD+R media. Could someone steer me toward a good drive, fairly inexpensive, that will read such discs? (That is, one that doesn't cost almost as much as another burner.)
Here's my main need for this drive: I'm burning a whole bunch of DVD+R discs (on an HP DVD-200i). I just want to confirm that these discs are readable in other drives. That is, I don't want to burn all these discs (about 80, just for the near future), only to find, should something ever happen to the DVD-200i, that I can't read them on something else.
These are data DVDs I'm burning. All but a few of them are music and other audio, in files of WAV, MP3 and SHN format (and a couple of RM and RAM files, FWIW). (There is also a little bit of stuff as GIF and TIFF picture files.) So I really need a DVD-ROM, although perhaps some players would handle the part that are MP3 files.
