  1. This is driving me nuts. I am new to this VCD burning lark and try as I might following all help topics suggestions inc both "How to's" on VCHelp. I seem always to fail.
When I burn using Nero or EasyCD all I get is the various folders on the disc but no sign of the Mpeg. Is it there and I am mising it somehow or am I doing something wrong. Can anybody put me out of my misery

  2. Mogsy,

you're probably not doing anything wrong - VCD's don't have MPEG files on them (at least not in the .mpg file format that MPEG files use on your PC.)

Once you've written your VCD with a prog like Nero, the MPEG file you use as the source is converted into the files required by the VCD specification.

I can't remember exactly what the folders and files are, but there should be 4 or 5 folders, and one of them will contain a load of .bin .dat or .cue files (sorry - really can't remember the details here!) These will contain the data from your .mpg file. If you're not sure which is which, just look for the biggest files on the disc.

I've been pretty vague here, but I hope that's put you out of your misery!

    cheers,

    mcdruid.

PS. If you want to watch the VCD on your PC and you've deleted the mpg file, use a software player like WinDVD, PowerDVD or one of the free ones (I-VCD is a good simple player) in the tools section of this site. They'll play the VCD disc.

  3. Your main movie file has been converted to avseq01.dat and is located within MPEGAV folder. You should be able to load it into WMP and play it.
