    This may be a stupid question..
    however... when ripping a DVD.. couldnt you just rip the largest VOB file
    ( i would assume this would be the actual movie).. then demux that, to get the mpv and ac3 file out. then convert the ac3 file to wav.. drop the wav and mpv file into TMPGenc, and bam.. all done?

    the the guides (even the newbie one.. seem to have many more steps?)

    i will be ripping my first DVD tonight when i get home and install my "new" DVD drive, but in the past when i would convert downloaded trailer VOBs.. i did the above method without problems

  2. The movie is on 4-to-6 VOBS,
    as dvd seems to have a 1GB limit for vobs.


    The software DVD2AVI comes in handy here and creates
    a fake long AVI for tmpgenc.
