  1. Im trying to encode my file using TMPGE and the kvcd ntsc film template. The problem is that my source is pal @25fps. Is there a guide that will explain in "simple" language how to convert pal to ntsc? I saw one guide that said to simply load a ntsc template, but also read that that was bad advice. Is there a program that will do it automatically?
    Thanks

not sure why it was said to be bad advice (using TMPGenc) I have done this many times without a problem.. However.. my PAL sources might have been the correct frame rate.. or my DVD player just doesnt care.. If there is an issue with the frame rate, you could always just use pulldown.exe off the tools section.

  3. I have read most of the beginner articles but I really dont understand what 3:2 pulldown or inverse telecine are let alone when to use them.

  4. Using TmpGenc to convert from Pal's 29.97fps to NTSCfilm at 23.97 will work but TmpGenc simply removes frames from the source to get the new framerate. The better idea is to use something like avifrate to change the framerate properly. This will make it play all the existing frames but at the new speed. Of course this is a bit slower so the audio will now be aout of sync. To fix this extract the audio from the avi with virtualdub as an uncompressed wav file, load into goldwave and stretch it to the same length as the new video. Use this as the audio input to your encoder and all will be fine.

    Hope this helps

  5. If your source and destination are both VCD, then take a look at the instructions I posted in http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=122337 (I'm still working on other combinations).
